Why did you choose a Cameo Island wedding?
We chose Zante as we met there 10 years ago when we was 18, and returned 4 years ago to visit my sister who was a rep at the time and we spotted Cameo island whilst on a boat trip and knew it was the perfect place for us.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We booked 15 months before and had the last booking available.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited about 60 people and 40 attended which was the perfect amount.
The bride’s dress, what make was your dress and how long did it take to find the perfect one?!
My dress was a Mori Lee Gardener, it did take a little while as I went to about 10 different shops and saw something I liked in every one. My mum cried when she saw this one on the hanger, that’s when I knew it was the right dress.
Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories, where were they from?
I went very minimal and chose a pair of rose gold chunky heeled sandals from Miss Selfridge, I knew it was going to be hot so I wanted to be comfortable. My only other accessories was a pair of vintage opal earrings which were a gift from nan before she passed away.
The Grooms suit, did the groom purchase or hire a suit? Or did he go down the casual route?
We tried to go a little in between as I didn’t want it to look to casual or for them to be too hot. We chose tailored cream trousers with a white shirt from Next, they wore there top buttons opened to give it that relaxed feel.
What about the bridesmaid dresses? What colour were they and where did you find them?
The bridesmaids dresses were from Asos, they were a blush pink multiway dress so they could all wear them in different styles to suit their shapes. The flower girls wore Monsoon dresses which matched the vintage theme.
The brides bouquet, what flowers did you choose and why?
I chose roses and gypsophilia in blush pink and creams, gypsophilia is my favourite as I like the vintage feel it gives.
What was your wedding theme? And why did you choose this?
I really love the vintage shabby chic look, so when I saw we could upgrade to the vintage package I was so happy as I was everything I would have chosen if I was at home! Colour wise we stuck to the blush pinks and creams as it watches the theme really well.
Can you tell us about the smaller details you added to personalise your Cameo island Wedding?
We chose a 1 tiered wedding cake and ordered extra cupcakes to match, everybody loves a cupcake! We didn’t have a seating plan and went for the BBQ menu as we wanted the meal to be more relaxed and so our guests could could have a bit of everything.
We chose to have the traditional Greek favour of almonds as we liked the meaning behind them and what they represent.
In the evening we had the Greek dancers who were amazing and got everybody up and in the mood for a dance, and after that we had the fireworks which were a lovely surprise for our guests and they all thought they were amazing.
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
The whole experience was stress free. I couldn’t believe how easy it was and was sure there was something I should have been doing.
What’s your best memory from the day?
The whole day was amazing and better than we ever could have imagined.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The weather definitely as you can guarantee the sunshine! The surroundings, our guest couldn’t believe how beautiful Cameo Island was. The whole experience of being on holiday with our family and closest friends, everybody was just so relaxed that we could really just enjoy the full day without stressing about anything as everything had been sorted in the months before so nothing was last minute.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
To just enjoy the whole experience as it goes so fast.
