Brighten up your Monday morning with this beautiful sunny private island wedding on the Greek island of Zante…
Why did you choose to get married in Zante, Cameo Island and Terrazzo Beach in particular?
As soon as we got engaged it was operation wedding planning. Stu has always wanted to get married on the beach so we started looking into different countries. We started looking into the Greek Islands as we have a young son so didn’t want the flight too be too long for the children that would be attending our wedding.
We have both been to Zante before but never together. We just fell in love with Cameo Island with its beauty and it’s privacy.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We had a 2 year engagement. We booked our wedding the July 2012 and got married in the June 2014.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We only have a small family between us so it was mainly family and a few close friends. We wanted to have a small intimate wedding. So we invited 35 guests and 25 attended.
We love your elegant silk dress, how long did it take you to find and who is it by?!
I was and still am in love with my wedding dress. It’s a gown by White Rose and is very elegant which is exactly the look I was going for! I always had this style of dress in mind but I could not find one anywhere… I was starting to give up hope when I found ‘the one’ in the last bridal shop I visited… I knew it was the one straight away.
Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories, where were they from?
I didn’t have many accessories as I wanted the dress to be the main focus. My shoes are by Vivienne Westwood, they are a beautiful dusty pink with a big red heart on the front. They are beautiful.
The only jewellery I wore including my ring was some ‘pear drop’ studs which match my engagement ring and a bracelet that my sister bought me for my 18th. She was very touched.
Stu looks gorgeous in his light blue suit, where did he find this?
Stu and his best man purchased their suits from Next. Stu originally had a navy suit which we bought together a year before. Three weeks before the wedding to my horror Stu decided he wanted to change his suit and the colour to a power blue. Which I must admit really worked on the day.
What about the bridesmaid dresses.. Where were they from and what made you choose the colour yellow?
We bought the bridesmaid dresses from a high street shop called Jane Norman. I did like the bridesmaid dresses from the bridal shops but found they were too expensive, therefore we were over the moon with the dresses we found on the high street because they fitted in perfectly with our Grecian style.
I decided to choose yellow for my wedding colour and for the bridesmaid dresses. My Grandma passed away a few months before Stu proposed to me. Her favourite colour was yellow so I chose this colour so I could have a little touch of her with me on the day.
Tell us about your bouquet, why did you choose to have roses?
I chose white and yellow roses for my wedding bouquet because when Stu proposed to me he did it with a bouquet of roses.
Tell us about the small details, the menu, the cake the favours, decor and entertainment… How did you choose these and were you happy with your choices?
Our wedding cake was two layers, one chocolate and one vanilla as we couldn’t decide on one flavour. The cake was absolutely delicious and all our guests complemented us on it. Our cake toppers were beautiful white roses with silver glitter, I brought these to Zante with me.
I also made a few personal DIY details for the day which I packed in my suitcase, including a plaque that quoted ‘We know you would be here today, if heaven wasn’t so far away!’
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
The whole planning experience was so great and easy. Lisa and her team were brilliant and answered any questions we had. We took it step by step and it wasn’t overwhelming at all.
What’s your best memory from the day?
The whole day was perfect in every way. We couldn’t have asked for it to have gone any better but I think our highlight was that all our guests were saying it was the best wedding they have ever been too.
How did you find the overall cost of your big day? Was it on budget or over budget?
We set a budget when we got engaged and we did go over that but that’s mainly because we spent £2,000 on our rings! However we do feel they are worth every penny as we will be wearing them everyday for the rest of our life’s.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The weather is one of the main reasons as it is almost guaranteed warmth and sunshine. Also I would say the views and venues are just breath taking and like nothing you see over here in the UK. I still day dream about our day now.
Our wedding…. Wow!!! I don’t know if we can put into words how amazingly perfect it was for us from start to finish.
We love how sweet and personal Tamsin and Stu’s colour scheme is, what colours will you be featuring in your day?
