The beautiful Sabina and now husband Taylor are sharing their gorgeous wedding story with us today.
The couple jetted off to the Greek Island of Zakynthos in July 2018 to say their I do’s on a private island followed by celebrations on the beachfront.
Their special day was captured on camera by the amazing team at Story Studios.
Over to Sabina….
Why did you choose to get married in Zante, Cameo Island in particular?
When we were researching where we’d like to get married we had a certain criteria, it had to be a beach or by the sea, it had to have a very relaxed feel about it, but it also needed to feel magical. So when we came across The Bridal Consulant and we saw Cameo Island we knew it HAD to be there!
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We booked our wedding 15 months in advance.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
Originally we booked for 25 guests, however we ended up with 23 guests. it was the perfect number for us.
We love your dress! Where was this from and how long did it take you before finding ‘the one’?
I bought my dress from “WED2B” they have quite a few branches across the UK, but the closest to me was the Brighton branch. I couldn’t recommend them enough, they are best known for having beautiful dresses at very reasonable pricing. My dress cost £599 and I think it was stunning. I went there and brought my dress home the very same day. I tried on 8 dresses but knew after trying on the 4th (the one I chose), that was the only wedding shop I visited.
Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories, where were they from?
My shoes were from a high street shop called ‘Aldo’. I originally had in my head I wanted some Jimmy Choos, but realised I didnt need to spend hundreds to fall in love. My bag was also from Aldo. My wedding jewellery was from our local independent jewellers where my wedding ring came from. I chose quite large studs, and a simple tennis bracelet.
Taylor also looks great in his attire! Where was this from?
Taylor chose a ‘Hugo Boss’ suit, he bought it the previous year and wanted to wear it for our wedding. It was slate grey, and he wore only the waistcoat, trousers and shirt. We decided to leave the blazer at home as we knew how hot Greece would be.
You chose a bouquet of calla lilies, why did you choose these flowers in particular and were you happy with you choice?
I chose ‘Calla Lilies’ because I didn’t have a specific colour scheme or bridesmaids to match with, and i wanted a simple elegant look. They were just beautiful !
What was your wedding theme?
Our theme was very relaxed, I love shabby chic so wanted a real rustic look. It was so perfect, we couldn’t have dreamt of it being any better!
What about the smaller details of the day? Did you have a cake? What was your chosen evening menu? Did you have favours? We’d love to hear about your entertainment…
Our wedding cake was a Traditional Greek cake, we chose vanilla and strawberry. Oh my goodness it was to die for! So light and not dry at all, it was delicious!
For our menu we chose a meze BBQ , and yet again it was amazing, lots of meat, the salads were so fresh, the bread was lovely and everybody commented on how it all tasted. There was enough for guests to have seconds and maybe even thirds!
Our wedding favours came from all over, I wanted sweets and midget gems were our favourite! We also had scratch cards to make people talk and get excited, along with other bits and bobs.
Entertainment wise – we chose a DJ which again was perfect for us.
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
At the start I was so so nervous about what it would be like planning a wedding overseas, but as the planning started I knew I had nothing to worry about. Sasha was brilliant with us, she was so quick at responding to all our questions. Matt was fab with all our legal stuff too – I definitely wouldn’t have been able to marry without his help!
What’s your best memory from the day?
This is a tough one, as we loved every single moment. We loved having our very close family and friends there to share those memories with us. The view from Cameo is breath taking, that venue its out of this world.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The weather for one, the cost also, the views of the sea, and the relaxed feel as everyone is in holiday mode.
What advice would you give to future brides and grooms who are getting married abroad?
Through this experience it has taught us to do things exactly how WE want them, our wedding was so magical and I think that was also down to the certain people we chose to invite. Try not to get too anxious and stressed on the lead up as the team at ‘The Bridal Consultant’ have EVERYTHING under hand. Enjoy every minute of your day and take time for just the two of you, 5 minutes here and there to reflect…
We love how Story Studios captured the love and laughter which was so apparent throughout Sabina and Taylor Special day! Leave your comments below!
