Today’s wedding story is taking us to the beautiful Greek Island of Zakynthos, where bride Nikki and groom Paul said their I do’s on the 25th of May 2017 at the stunning Terrazzo Beach.
They had a blush pink colour scheme running throughout their day which complimented the beachfront setting perfectly.
Prepare to gasp in awe at their breathtaking photographs…
Why did you choose to get married in Zante, Terrazzo Beach in particular?
We chose the venue because we wanted to get married on the beach and this was more than close enough to it for us with the extra speciality of being on a jetty. The area is beautiful.
We had never been to Zante before but my auntie had suggested it when looking for venues abroad as she had seen a ceremony whilst on holiday at this particular venue and said it looked amazing
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We paid the deposit in July 2016 and got married May 2017.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited around 50 people and we had 30 guests attend.
You look stunning in your dress! How long did it take you to find the perfect one?
I found my perfect dress very quickly within one month of looking! It had a key hole back which I wanted because of getting married abroad. It wasn’t too big either because (due to the heat) and was just perfect!
What shoes did you choose and why?
My shoes were from a prom shop. I had already purchased some beautiful sparkly ones but when they arrived the heel was too big and I was worried about falling on the decking leading to the jetty. I then found some sparkly kitten heels at the prom shop.
Paul looks great in his attire! Why did he choose this look?
The groom wore smart shorts and a matching waistcoat. The tie matched the bridesmaids dresses. The groom, best man and ushers all looked very smart but also fitted in with the beach theme.
What about your bridesmaids dresses?
We chose a soft pink multi way dress from a local supplier.
We are in love with your bouquet! Were you happy with the result?
My bouquet was beautiful I sent a picture of what I wanted and the florist matched it perfectly with various different flowers
Did you add a theme to your wedding?
We had a starfish aisle, I chose this as it complemented the beach wedding very well and gave it a really nice quirk.
Can you tell us about the smaller details of the day…your menu? cake? Favours and entertainment?
We had an al a carte menu which was delicious from start to finish. I had favours as part of my decoration choices which gave a nice touch.
I had a simple cake with pretty little cupcakes decorated around it. I didn’t want a big cake due to the amount of guests.
We had Greek dancers and fireworks for entertainment which was just perfect. After dinner I felt very tired but the Greek dancers soon lifted us and provided very good entertainment getting all of the guests up, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and had so much fun. The fireworks were very romantic and gave a lovely finish towards the end of the night. The photos of these are amazing!
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
My wedding planner from the UK was brilliant and was at hand to answer and questions efficiently. She also helped me a lot with various choices I got stuck with because I am such an indecisive person. Thank you Sasha.
What’s your best memory from the day?
The horse and carriage ride where we got to spend time alone for a while and our first dance were my favourite moments. However I enjoyed every minute of it and have so many wonderful memories.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The beautiful surroundings, the friendly people, peace of mind of a sunny day, and being besides the sea and sand. We also enjoyed the Greek culture – food, dancers and the horse and carriage ride as man and wife.
