This morning we’re sharing with you a real wedding on the gorgeous Cameo Island!
Newly weds Kelly and James exchanged their vows on the 3rd of June 2015 and the bride herself is giving us an insight on her big day from why she chose to marry on Cameo to her favourite memory from the day! Enjoy x
Why did you choose to get married in Zante, Cameo Island in particular?
We had seen it online and decided to go and look before we booked it. It was beautiful and we fell in love with it. We loved the fact we could have a private ceremony and that we were right next to the sea.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited everyone which was roughly 50 and 41 attended.
Your dress is lovely! What make was it and how long did it take you to find the perfect one?!
My dress was a Justin Alexander lace dress. I had looked over the 2 years from booking but found the perfect one 8 months before the wedding date. Fleur De Lys Bridal shop were brilliant in Saffron Walden. They made the process smooth despite a few hiccups.
What about your shoes and accessories? Did you have a something old and something new?
My shoes were from Ruby Shoos and I got them from Town Row in St Ives where we live. I wore my Pandora bracelet which was old. My friend Tracy brought me a blue garter. New wedding dress which my mum bought for me and borrowed was a clutch bag.
Can you tell us about the grooms suit, where was this purchased?
James wore a linen suit which was cool on the day as it was 31 degrees. He wore a Ralph Lauren shirt and shoes. His best man matched him and also our son Jenson.
What about the bridesmaid dresses? Where were these purchased?
We bought the bridesmaid dresses from Monsoon. We had a struggle to find the 3 adult bridesmaids something they liked and suited them all. The navy ones they all loved and could wear the neckline differently. The 2 flower girls also wore Monsoon dresses in white and gold which matched my dress.
We love your bouquet! Why did you choose roses in particular?
My bouquet was made up of just cream roses. The roses were my dad’s favourite flowers and I wanted to have them with me on my special day as he is no longer with us.
Did you theme your wedding?
We wanted a relaxed day with friends and family. We did not have name cards, seating plans etc, we just wanted to keep it very relaxed all day.
Could you tell us about the smaller details of the day. The cake and the menu, did you have any entertainment?
The cake was delicious. We had a mixture of chocolate and vanilla. We had a BBQ reception again to keep with the relaxed theme. The Greek dancers were brilliant. The fireworks just topped the day off.
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
The planning was extremely easy. Matt made everything as simple as possible and it went very well.
Do you have a favourite memory from the day?
James making me cry during his grooms speech when he was talking about my dad.
How much did you spend overall on your big day? Was it on budget or over budget?
£10,000 which included the holiday and the wedding. We were on budget for the day.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
You cannot simulate the blues and greens from the sea, sky etc that stand out in the wedding photos. The whole day was perfect and James and I would not have changed a thing. The weather was glorious and everyone said it was the best wedding they had ever attended.
Who wouldn’t want to exchange their vows on this gorgeous island? Don’t forget to share for other Zante brides to be to see!
