Just two weeks ago the lovely Hayley and Carl jetted off to Zante to get married along with 17 special guests. Today I’m catching up with the bride herself to talk about planning, dresses, themes and the special day. I also have a selection of gorgeous sneak peek photos to share with you, enjoy x
Why did you choose to get married in Zante, Terrazzo Beach in particular?
We have always loved the island of Zakynthos and having visited various places and returning year after year we made the decision that this would be the island where we say our I do’s.
We specifically chose to have our ceremony and reception at Terrazzo Beach purely because of the breathtaking views, the sandy beach and the beautiful beach bar area which hosts the reception. We’d always wanted a relaxed wedding where our guests could be at ease take in the beautiful scenery and just enjoy our big day with us.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We set the ball rolling and went ahead and booked our wedding just after our little boy had been born, we decided as we now had a little family it was time, and booked the date 24 months prior to our big day.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited 17 people to our wedding all of which accepted and flew out to Zante with us. It was so lovely to have all our close family around us.
The bride’s dress, what make was your dress and how long did it take to find the perfect one?!
My dress believe it or not, was actually the first dress I tried on in the first bridal shop I had made an appointment with! I wanted something simple but with little bit of sparkle, I’ve never really been a girly girl but wanted something special on my big day. I chose an Italian A line dress called ‘Sorrento’ from the Rosetta Nicolini range, as soon as I tried it on I knew it was the one, I did go on to try on 5 more dresses before I made my choice and went back to the one I fell in love with.
The Grooms suit, did the groom purchase or hire a suit?
We had the grooms outfit custom made as we wanted something a little different from the usual ivory and cream waistcoats. We chose a nice tinted cream with a gold spiral in the pattern along with a gold cravat for the groom to tie in with the wedding colours we had chosen, this was finished with smart cream linen trousers and cream beach shoes for a more casual/relaxed look.
Your bouquet, what flowers did you choose and why?
For my bouquet I chose to have a beautiful array of white chrysanthemums, I didn’t want anything over the top, just a nice simple bouquet to blend in with the beach setting.
What was your wedding theme? And why did you choose this?
For our wedding theme we chose ivory with a hint of gold. Our decoration was made up of gold chair sashes, gold pearl balloons with matching napkins, white wooden heart decorations, and lovely bunting. We ideally wanted something beautiful but simple; we didn’t want to spoil the naturally beautiful setting.
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
From the day we booked our wedding date, to the moment we said our vows the planning itself was just an absolute breeze. We are quite a laid back couple and we didn’t want any of the planning getting in the way of enjoying watching our little boy grow up and that’s the main reason we chose to hire a wedding planner. Not once during our wedding planning did doubt or fear cross my mind as I knew my plans and requests were being dealt with by such a fantastic team at The Bridal Consultant.
What’s your best memory from the day?
There are so many beautiful memories from our big day that will stay with us forever but I think the one that stands out the most is seeing my husband stood waiting for me as I walked down the beach arm in arm with my dad. I will never forget the happiness we both felt, it was truly amazing.
How much did you spend overall on your big day? Was it on budget or over budget?
I think all in all with the wedding itself, suits, my dress, accessories, photographer, honeymoon and the rest of the bits we spent around £9,000. To us that was £9,000 well spent and I wouldn’t change a thing, we learnt that you don’t have to spend an absolute fortune to have the beautiful wedding day of your dreams.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
We are so happy that we chose to marry abroad. It was just out if this world and we definitely feel that we made the right choice. Everything from to start to finish was just gorgeous with no stress and no panic, and we were able to kick back, relax and just enjoy the best day of our lives. If anyone is thinking of getting married I would urge you to do it, it really was amazing and I can’t thank all of our planners enough for making our big day the best of the best!
Remember to share this gorgeous real life wedding with anyone that may enjoy it too!
