Brighten up your day with this gorgeous Cameo Island wedding in Zakynthos!
Chrissy and David exchanged their vows in the beautiful cove area of Cameo Island followed by a reception at Agios Sostis which offers the most stunning sea views.
The bride is sharing all of the details from her special day which took place in June 2016…
Why did you choose to get married in Zante, Cameo Island in particular?
We knew we wanted a beach wedding abroad and somewhere hot which was not too far away, so that guests could also attend. We searched and searched for the perfect place and Cameo Island was it. It really appealed to us that you could have the beach cove area private as it was very important to us to have a personal intimate wedding.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We got engaged and started planning basically straight away, there was 18 months from being engaged to getting married. Once we actually booked and decided on where we wanted to get married the rest was so simple. David and I both wanted a stress free wedding and booking with The Bridal Consultant was definetly stress free. Every step of the way the team helped us and made everything go smoothly.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited 30 and 26 guests attended, we were so happy that most of the people which we asked were able to come and enjoy our special day and also use that as their summer holiday also. We gave our guests just under 18 months notice so they were able to plan their holiday.
Your dress is beautiful! What make was this and how long did it take to find?
I probably tried on about 6 dresses before I found the one. My dress was Maggie Sottero Cynthia, it was from Champagne and Confetti which is a bridal shop in my town. My mum picked out my dress for me, I didn’t think I would like it as it was not what I thought I wanted but once I tried it in I fell in love with it straight away.
Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories, where were they from?
My shoes were open toe Touch Ups which I brought online. I am tall and only wanted a small heel, they were so comfortable. My hair piece was from Claire’s Accessories, and my necklace and earrings were from BHS. My mum brought me a lovely diamond and blue sapphire bracelet from H Samuel’s as my something new and blue.
What about the grooms attire, what did he choose to wear and why?
David brought his and his groomsmen’s suits from Moss Bros. It was cheaper to buy rather than hire as we were going to be away for 2 weeks. Even though we were having a beach wedding, David still wanted to have the full suit and formal look. He had a grey 3 piece suit with light blue cravat and both his groomsmen had 2 piece light blue ties. He bought brown shoes and belts from River Island which looked great.
We love your pastel coloured bridesmaids dresses! Where were they purchased?
We had 4 bridesmaids and knew that we wanted the same dress in 4 different colours. We wanted pastel colours, so the bridesmaids chose their colours and we chose the design together. I ordered them from Ebay, they were from china but were fab, they were so lovely and all the girls looked great. The colours were pastel green, yellow, peach and lilac. They had diamante detail on the front and had a corset back, the length was just below the knee.
What flowers and colours did you choose for your flowers and why?
I had the standard bouquet of local flowers in white and light pink, they were gorgeous! As we had 4 different pastel colours for the bridesmaid dresses I just wanted a light colour which complimented all the other colours which they did perfectly. We gave the bridesmaids ivory hand fans instead of flowers which looked lovely and practical in the heat!
Did you theme your wedding?
We didn’t have a theme as such, just pastel colours as we thought this was a bit different and would suit the kind of wedding we were having.
Tell us about the smaller details of the day….
We had a horse and carriage to take David and I to the reception where the guest were waiting for us, this was amazing as we rode through the sea on the beach, such a lovely touch to the day. We chose the meze meal for the evening dinner. We selected which dishes we wanted in the planning process, there were lots to chose from and on the day the food was lovely, there was so much of it! It was a sit down buffet type meal so you could just help yourself to what you wanted from your table. This fitted in with the feel of the evening perfectly.
The wedding cake we chose was the traditional Greek cake, there were two tires one chocolate and one vanilla with fresh cream inside, it was delicious! We also had banoffee pie for dessert which was lovely.
For the evening entertainment we had a DJ who played music which we selected.
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
Everything from the start to the end went perfectly. The teams both in Zante and England were perfect, nothing was too much trouble and they helped us with everything and made the whole planning process and the day go so smoothly.
What’s your best memory from the day?
It is hard to pick one memory as the whole day was perfect, but walking down the aisle with my dad and step dad and seeing my husband to be at the end and knowing that we are just about to get married in front of friends and family was just perfect.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
The whole thing was just so relaxed and just perfect. The weather and the setting just made it stand out, and all the guests said that it was so unique and different from a wedding in the UK.
