If these stunning photos don’t make you want to jump on a plane to the beautiful Greek Island…we don’t know what will! Enjoy x
Why did you choose to get married in Santorini, Luxury Private Estate in particular?
When Mark and I got engaged we decided to get married abroad and looked at a few different places to go. Santorini definitely stood out, the pictures of weddings there looked unreal.
When I contacted Lisa she gave me a list of venues to look at and straight away this one stood out. I saw the Sunset View Terrace was one of the most popular and I wanted something different and less commercial, the Luxury Private Estate is quite a new venue so I liked the idea of having it there and putting my own spin on it.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We got engaged in April 2016 and the wedding was May 2017. I had waited 10 years for a proposal so I booked it straight away!
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
I can’t remember exactly how many we invited, I think it was around 90. We ended up having 78 people attend, that was 67 adults and 11 children.
We love your dress! Who was the designer and how long did it take you before finding ‘the one’?
My dress was a Mori Lee design and I found it in the second shop I went to! I had an idea in my head of what I wanted. I went to the first shop and they wasn’t really listening to what I wanted and I had a bad experience. The second shop I went to was completely different, it was a small boutique and I was the only bride in there. As soon as I walked in I was just drawn to this dress and it turned out it was the exact dress that I had found on the internet…it was fate! I tried it on and it’s true, you just know. My mum and sister cried as soon as I come out, I knew I had to get it there and then.
Your shoes are stunning, where were these from and how did you accessorize?
My shoes were from Kurt Geiger, my earrings were from Swarovski and Mark surprised me with a watch as a wedding gift so I wore that too! I didn’t need a necklace as my dress was quite high neck and had a lace detail. I kept my jewellery to a minimum. I also wore my nans wedding ring as my something borrowed.
Mark looks very handsome in his attire! Where was this purchased and why did he choose this look?
Mark didn’t wear a suit as he wanted to be a bit different. He wore white chinos and a shirt with a navy blazer from Ted Baker. His shoes and belt were moreschi from Russell and Bromley, they were both in tan. He looked so gorgeous he took my breath away when I first saw him.
What about the bridesmaids and flower girl? What did they wear?
My bridesmaids dresses were pale pink and they were from Ted baker. My flower girls dress was white from Next and they all looked absolutely stunning.
Your flowers, were these an important aspect of the day for you? What flowers did you choose and why?
My bride’s bouquet was pale pink made up of white hydrangeas, peonies and roses. I own a florist so the flowers were very important to me and the florist done them exactly how I asked and envisioned, they were perfect!
What was your wedding theme?
We didn’t really have a particular theme. I love photos so we used them for our place cards and table names. We also tried to bring the abroad theme into our wedding so our table names were counties we have been on holiday together! Our colour theme was pale pink, navy, silver and white, all of these colours worked so well together.
Can you tell us a little bit more about the smaller details of the day? Your cake, favours and entertainment?
My wedding cake was stunning! It went with my flower theme, hydrangeas at the bottom in pink and white with flowers on the top, it tasted amazing too! Our favours were scratch cards as they didn’t take up too much room in our luggage. Entertainment we had a saxophonist after the ceremony for cocktail hour, he was so good and wore some of our photo booth props too! We also had fireworks at the end of our first dance which were a big hit!
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
The planning was really good. I am a very organised person and I love planning things. This was my biggest project yet and I had a lot of help from my sister but I did really enjoy it, but I wouldn’t of known where to start if it wasn’t for Lisa and the team who made the whole process so easy.
What’s your best memory from the day?
The whole day was just a dream come true so it’s hard to choose a moment, but if I had to choose I’d have to say seeing mark at the end of the aisle! I just couldn’t wait to get to him! My dad said I was like a galloping horse he had to hold me back ha ha!
Was your wedding on budget or over budget?
We didn’t really have a budget. I knew what I wanted to have and we just made it work. You seem to just be able to find the money to do it but there’s nothing I would of changed. I would of spent millions for that day! You can’t put a price on them views.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
You just can’t get them views back in the UK. I literally felt like a celebrity, it’s also that you get to spend more than one day with your loved ones. We had a stag and hen do on the Friday night and went on a boat trip the day before which made everyone get to know each other, I literally didn’t want the week to end. I can’t put in words what an amazing time we had I’m just so sad it’s all over.
