There is something oh so enchanting about a Rethymno Beach wedding so we are very excited to share with you this morning Jodie and Gavin’s beautiful beach wedding on the Greek island of Crete.
Not only am I catching up with Jodie to talk all about the wedding but we have some stunning sneak peek photo’s from the big day…
Why did you choose to get married in Crete, Rethymno Beach in particular?
Me and Gavin both knew we always wanted a beach wedding and the photo’s of previous weddings on Rethymno Beach in Crete were just amazing and so unique. In addition to that we adore Greece so overall it was an easy decision.
How long in advance did you book your wedding?
We booked our wedding over 2 years in advance.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding and how many accepted and attended?
We invited 30 guests to the wedding but ended up with over 40 on the day, it was amazing and we feel so honoured that so many people wanted to attend.
We love your beautiful dress, how long did it take you to find the perfect one?!
Surprisingly it didn’t take me long at all to find my dress. I didn’t like it when I saw it on the hanger but the lady in the shop insisted I tried it on, thank goodness I did, I loved it!
Can you tell us about your bridal shoes and accessories where were they from?
My wedding shoes were from Quiz, my earrings were borrowed from my mother in law and my bracelet was a present from my sister, she bought it from the Swarovski shop in Dubai where she lives.
Gavin looked very handsome in his casual attire, why did he choose this look and where did he find it?
Gavin and all the groomsmen were in trousers and shirts from Next. We chose this look as it was nice and simple and cool as it was very hot in Crete.
Tell us about the bridesmaids dresses, where were they from?
The bridesmaids wore floor length coral gowns which I bought online. I simply love the colour!
Your bouquet, what flowers did you choose and why?
I left my bouquet choice down to the wedding planner in Crete. I had a beautiful bouquet of gerberars, roses and other pretty florals, we were delighted with them!
Did you theme your wedding? What made you choose this?
We didn’t really have a theme as such, it was a very relaxed wedding so we didn’t want anything too formal. We decorated our wedding tables with shells and had the colour coral running through the details as we were on the beach.
How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?
Everything was planned really well! I didn’t get stressed at all on the run up to the big day and when we arrived in Crete we met our wedding planner who told us what was going to happen and when.
What’s your best memory from the day?
My best memory was the reception and evening party, everybody has not stopped talking about it, it was out of this world, and I wish we could do it all again.
How much did you spend overall on your big day? Was it on budget or over budget?
We spent around £25k, this was over budget but looking back at the day it was worth every penny.
What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?
For us, the quality and effort of everybody involved was far better than anything I have ever seen in the UK, for example our photographers stayed well past the expected time, the food was out of this world and there was just so much of it, our wedding planner in Crete even collected sunglasses that were left at the hotel and went out of her way to make sure we got them back.
We just wanted to say thank you so so much for everything you did, Gavin and I had the most perfect day possible! The team in Crete were great, the photographer and make up artist were out of this world and the hotel made our wedding like a celebrity wedding, we could not be happier!!
If you love this romantic beach wedding or know someone who would, then don’t forget to share!
Keep your eyes peeled for more gorgeous photos coming soon!
