Happy Monday! I’m excited this morning to be introducing you all to our new Diary of a Destination couple Chrissy and Phil!
Chrissy and Phil will be saying their I do’s in 2016 at our Sunset view Terrace wedding venue along with their closest friends and family. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled as the bride to be will be keeping us up to date on her wedding planning process up until her big day! Enjoy x
So Chrissy tell us a bit about yourself and Phil…
I’m a Recruitment Manager based in London. I love spending time with family, friends and my awesome fiancé Phil. Phil is a Managing Director of his own Marketing company and is sporting mad. He invests a lot of time into building his business so he really enjoys spending his spare time with family and friends (often on the golf course!). Over the next few months we have an amazing arrival on the way and will be welcoming our first child which is incredibly exciting!!
How did you meet?
We met through work 6 years ago, however we only really got to know each other properly in the last few years. We got on so well and really enjoyed each others company and the rest is history!
And what about the engagement story? How did Phil pop the question!?
Phil proposed to me whilst we were holidaying in Sri Lanka last Christmas. We we’re staying in an amazing beach resort in Hikkaduwa and were having a lovely meal in our hotel on Christmas Eve. Following the meal we headed back to our suite and when I opened the door there were rose petals and candles all along the hallway and around the rooms as well as on the bed. For some reason I thought he’d arranged for the suite to be set up for us to have massages done by the hotel spa, so I turned around to thank him for such a lovely gesture and as I turned around he was down on bended knee! I was not expecting it at all and was completely blown away by how beautiful a surprise it was. It was the happiest day of my life and the proposal and the ring absolutely blew me away!
What made you chose to get married abroad over a UK wedding?
We LOVE to travel and due to both being busy with work it seemed like the perfect idea to get married abroad so we can take time out and really enjoy the whole experience somewhere far from our natural habitat.
How did your families react when you announced you were getting married abroad?
Our families were very happy with our wedding being abroad. It’s going to be amazing to have us all together and treat it as an extended holiday with them and our close friends.
You’ve chosen to get married in Santorini, was this an easy decision or did you look at several other destinations before choosing?
It was a very easy decision for us to make. Our first holiday together was in Santorini and we just fell in love with the island. It’s absolutely stunning! It holds a lot of memories for us and we knew on that holiday that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
