Happy Monday! A couple of months back we introduced you to our new Diary of a Destination Bride Louise and her hubby to be Daniel who will be tying the knot at the beautiful Dana Villas in Santorini in June 2016. If you haven’t already meet the couple here.
This morning I’m chatting with Louise about wedding themes and the kind of look she wants to create on her special day.
Tell us a bit about your wedding theme…
Our theme will be fairly simple and classic with Royal blue and white being the main colours with a hint of sunflower yellow to brighten it up.
What was your inspiration?
We wanted to keep with the traditional Greek colours and thought the blue would look lovely against the white buildings. I love yellow gerbereas and sunflowers so we’d like to include these too.
What kind of overall feel do you want for your special day?
Very simple, classy and classic. There’s no real theme other than the colours. We thought the location and scenery was enough and didn’t want to distract from that. We want the day to feel intimate and relaxed and for our guests (and us) to be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and amazing sunset. The food is one of the most important things to us. It’s pretty hard to find a menu that pleases everyone, especially if they aren’t used to Greek food.
What colours have you chosen to incorporate in your day and what details will include these colours?
I’d like plain white linen for the tables with blue and yellow flowers. Our table plans, place cards and any other decoration will be based on these colours. The groom, best men and bridesmaids will also heavily feature the blue theme. I have chosen the bridesmaid dresses, we’ve gone for a Grecian look to complement the setting but hopefully also keep them cool! Something I don’t think I thought through when I chose my dress!!! With regards to the groom and best man, we’re in the process of trying to choose between a trouser suit or shorts and a shirt!
What resources are you/have you been using to collect all your ideas and inspiration?
I’ve visited lots of wedding shows, used bridal magazines but most of my ideas have come from reading other destination brides stories, and also using instagram where I follow lots of Santorini weddings. I’m a bit old fashioned and have created a mood board using a canvas and cut outs. I’m not quite up with the Pintrest trend yet!
Until next time….keep your eyes peeled for lots of wedding planning updates!
