Diary of a Destination Bride – Lisa & Kieran: The Theme

Earlier this month we introduced you to the lovely Lisa and Kieran who are going to be exchanging vows in Santorini next year at the stunning Sunset View Terrace followed by a reception at Theros Wave Bar … If you haven’t already, then you can meet them here!

Today I’m chatting with Lisa all about wedding themes and the kind of look she wants to create on her special day.

Tell us a bit about your wedding theme…

I wanted my wedding theme to be relaxed, fun and romantic, with a bit of a twist and spin on all things traditional. A small example is rather than having the usual favours that people wont use/take, I wanted my guests to have something they would remember and find a bit quirky, so I have made my own survival kits. They all contain 5 things; 2 paracetemols, a small bottle of Fiji water, eyemasks and include a keepsake note from myself and Kieran. This way they get used and appreciated especially the morning after.

However, the main theme is definitely romance with a touch of luxury, so there will be lots of candles, rose petals, clear glass, and beautiful flowers. we are having a few extras but they’re a secret 😉

What colours have you chosen to incorporate in your day and what details will include these colours?

We have chosen simple ideas for our wedding such as clear glass, candle light, multiple shades of pink, whites and a hint of green foliage as we wanted colours that are easy on the eye and that go together.

My dream flowers that I have asked for are Memory lane medium roses, hydrangea’s, cymbidium, celosia, calla lilly’s, lilly of the valley, peonies and stephodis; all in light and dark pinks… Eeek they are so beautiful! On the tables I would like small flower arrangements in the shades of pink and candles in clear glass.

What was your inspiration?

I was mainly inspired by my taste and the kind of things I like, and then found lots of lovely pictures on Instagram, Etsy and Pinterest… it’s hard not to get inspired with the endless amounts of ideas and pictures they have on there. I’m a big lover of candles, rose petals etc. so I always knew I wanted to incorporate them into the day to create a romantic and relaxed feel but the scenery in Santorini is enough to give our wedding the wow factor!

What kind of overall feel do you want for your special day?

I want all of our guests to feel just as happy as myself and Kieran on the day so we have tried to think of everything which will create this kind of ambience. When we are saying our vows, we want all of our married and loved up guests to look at each other and feel that warm fuzzy feeling, because that’s what its all about! Also, just like every bride out there, I want the day to be smooth, relaxed, emotional (in a good way) and overall I want it to be a day to remember!!
