On the blog today we’re catching up with Diary of a Destination Bride Christel and hubby to be Daniel who are introducing us to their wedding party! Over to them…
We have an incredibly large Bridal Party, but we consider ourselves beyond blessed to have so many amazing people in our lives. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all these remarkable people supporting us.
I formally asked my girlfriends to be a part of our wedding day by delivering each of them small personalized packages filled with goodies from Greece including Greek chocolate, Jordan almonds, traditional Greek wedding cookies and finished with a lovely note asking them to be a part of my bridal party.
Daniel, in true men’s style, formally asked each one of his groomsmen over a nice cold beer.
Maid of Honor
My best friend and partner in crime, Roxane was the one who met Daniel and first told me I would like him! She was there on our first date and even made him pinky promise that he would take care of me that very first day! She has seen my relationship through all its ups, downs and winding twists in between. Her and Daniel are like two peas in a pod, I often call them my “two crazy halves”, they are alike in so many ways yet both completely opposite of me! She would go to the moon and back for the people she loves and I will forever cherish all she has done and the joy she continues to bring into my life.
My younger sister but more like my blood bestie. Like a true sister, she’s there with me through all of life’s laughs, tears and adventures. She’s been a great support system for me and Daniel alike and I can always count on her for non-stop laughs even with the simplest things.
Janelle is seriously my rock in life, my relationship and the wisest voice of reason. She’s been one of my best friends since the 5th grade and I don’t know where I would be without her. I look up to her in so many ways and she constantly inspires me to be the best woman I can be both in my relationship and as an individual. Her strong lasting relationship with our fellow groomsman Christian is one Daniel and I have always admired and look to for guidance.
Lala is honestly one of the most amazing people I have ever met and I am proud to call her my best friend. She has the kindest heart and her positivity has seen me through so many of life’s challenges. She loves and supports unconditionally, and isn’t afraid to tell you what you need to hear. She is the definition of a good person and having her in my life constantly reminds me a truly good heart is a valuable quality to cherish among friends.
Jillian has been one of my best friends since childhood and since then she’s always been a source of love, support, encouragement, and true sisterhood. Jillian is the kind of friend you can always turn to without fear of judgement and know she will be in your corner no matter what. Her accepting and patient nature has always been something I admired and aspire to be like.
We’ve grown together from high school friends, to college roommates and now to career women. She knows me inside and out. Jodie has seen me through some of my toughest times and I will always cherish her for being a true friend through thick and thin.
Natalie, my oldest friend, she’s been keeping laughter in my life since we were just 5 years old. Nat is a true friend through thick and thin. Although distance of miles may have separated us physically, it brings me so much happiness to know that it has not made us any less close as friends.
Bev was there from when I first started dating Daniel. I shared a lot with her during the fun first few months of dating while we were in high school. She has always been a great support system, and I always know I can count on her for honest and encouraging advice. From first dates, first kisses, sneaking out to see boys and prom nights, I love that I can think back to our innocent high school dating days and now here we are as grown women planning our weddings together.
Eveline has been the person from the very beginning who always told me “I just have a feeling you guys are meant for each other … “. She was there when Daniel and I first started dating and was my rock through the college years. When times were tough she always gave me a shoulder to cry on and uplifted me with her sentiments on love. I think Ev always understood how I’m a hopeless romantic. She made me feel like true love was a real thing if you were lucky enough to find it.
My brother and best friend. We do everything together and we have developed pretty much identical interests to the T. He’s my go to man for everything from motorcycle riding, tattoo collecting, drinking and dreaming. I know I can count on him for anything and I’d do the same for him. He has always been there to support me in everything I set my heart out to do. He understands me, understands my relationship, looks out for me, and is who I turn to in good times and bad.
Gabe and I have been friends since before we were born. He’s my brother from another. We share countless childhood memories together. We grew from boys into men together and I’m happy to still have him supporting me till this day. Gabe was there when Stel and I first starting dating. He helped me make my first ever gift to her, a mixed CD!
My cousin, but Greg is the closest thing I’ve had to a big brother. He’s always been a role model in my life. He’s a great friend, mentor and has been an amazing counselor to me throughout my relationship. He keeps me grounded in my faith in God and I look up to him because he is a great husband and father.
Earnest and I have also been friends since childhood. Earnest is like the personification of my good conscience. He is an honest and trustworthy friend. The kind truly worth fighting for. He’s more than a friend, I consider him family.
C-MO. One of my best friends. He’s a rider, soldiers at arms. Christian has such strong family values and I’m happy that some rub off on me. He’s a great friend who I can always turn to and confide in and he isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. He really values family bonds and our Filipino heritage and I hope to learn from his example and share the same things with my own family one day.
Mo and I’s friendship is one that ironically developed out of initial feelings of animosity. But now he has become one of my closest friends. A friendship that can’t be broken as it was born out of raw emotion. He’s been a great friend to both me and Stel and I know we’ll share memories together until we’re old men.
Mike and I share a friendship that just won’t quit no matter what life throws at us. He’s my partner in crime. I’m happy to say we both made it out of chaos alive and well. He’s always been there for me and I know he always will. He’s a great father, which I really respect.
Jeff was not just my next door neighbor growing up, he became one of my best friends. He’s like a brother to me and we share childhood memories hopping fences growing up together. Jeff spent a lot of time with both me and Stel when we first started dating. He’s my ace and we’ve shared a lot of fun times together and I am happy to still have him by my side.
My new, but not so new brother. Derrick welcomed me as his brother from day one. I admire his ambition. He’s a man of the family, living with 3 Gellidon sisters he had to be a saint! I am proud to be his brother and a part of his family and his grandfather’s legacy.
