This morning I’m catching up with Diary of a Destination Bride to be Lianne who is marrying her other half Mark on the 28th of May 2017 on the beautiful Greek Island of Santorini!
For those who are yet to meet the bride and groom to be, read all about their wedding planning process here.
With only 3 months to go until the big day, how is your planning coming along? Do you still have lots to arrange or are you as organised as can be?
I feel like I am pretty organised! I have all the big things all sorted it’s just the finishing touches and little things that are left to do, but as it is creeping up I am starting to want to sort everything so I can relax. I do not like leaving things to the last minute, my friends always say that I’m such an organised person and wedding planning is my biggest project yet!
The dress – did you find it easy to find a dress and decide on an overall look? Were you surprised with your decision or is this the dress/look that you knew you were going to choose for your special day?
I had obviously never tried on wedding dresses before but I did have an idea in my head that I really liked. I went to my first shop and had a bad experience. I didn’t feel like it was very personal to me as there were about 4 brides all coming out at the same time like a catwalk it was quite embarrassing and the lady I had wasn’t listening to what I wanted! I was open to trying on all styles to see what suited my figure but I didn’t find anything like the dress I had in my head.
I went to the second shop and it was a small boutique and I was the only one in there which I thought was a nice touch. As soon as I walked in I saw the dress that I wanted hanging there and it turned out it was the exact dress/designer I had found in the picture on the Internet! I tried it on and straight away I knew it was the one as my mum and sister both cried so I knew I had to get it. I tried on about 5 other dresses in a similar style and kept going back to the first. I had an appointment at another shop straight after so I called and cancelled and my mum bought the dress for me there and then
What about the bridesmaid’s dresses, are your bridesmaid’s happy with your choice?
The bridesmaids dresses were one of the first things I had bought and I loved them as soon as they tried them on, one of my bridesmaids was pregnant at the time so it was a risk getting hers but she has had the baby now and fits back in it already so that was a weight off my shoulders. My flower girl has her dress just need to sort her shoes out and she is done too.
The groom – is he going for a formal or casual look?
Mark is kind of going for a bit of both really not too formal but very smart and handsome, we have purchased part of his outfit but need to just finish it off so that is defiantly one of the things on the to do list I want sorted as soon as possible. The ushers and best men are a bit of a mix too between casual and formal and my page boys outfit is adorable! I can’t wait for him to wear it on the day.
Have you completed any DIY projects that you are going to incorporate into the day?
I am designing my table plan myself with help from my brother in law and my table numbers but that is pretty much the only DIY project that I have to do. It’s hard when you get married abroad because you can’t go to over the top because of transporting it all over there.
Until next time….
